NCCAKRON & THE KNIGHT FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE 
2019 DANCE/USA CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

 

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE 2019 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES HAS PASSED.

 

We will announce awardees in early May. All applicants who do not receive funding will be offered an extended early-bird discount rate. Thank you for your applications, and we look forward to seeing you in Cleveland at the Dance/USA Annual Conference, June 12-15, 2019.

For more information on the scholarships, please read below. 

NCCAkron and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation are pleased to offer two different scholarship opportunities to enable members of the dance field to attend this year.

For college undergraduate or graduate students, individual artists, and dance professionals working for organizations in Akron, Cleveland, or Youngstown OH:

Full Conference and Single-Day Scholarships are being provided through a competitive application process. 

Professional artists/administrators working in the dance field, and undergraduate/graduate students in related fields are eligible to apply for this opportunity.

Dance organizations are asked to encourage their dancers or staff to apply.

Deadline to apply is April 15, 2019 at 11pm EST.

Deadline, Selection, and Notification

•         A separate advisory committee will review completed applications.

•         Regional applications will be considered as received; successful applicants may be notified prior to the April 15th submission deadline.

•         All notifications will be made by May 1, 2019.

•         Unsuccessful applicants will be allowed to register at the Early Bird Registration Rate even if the deadline has passed (and/or apprised of any opportunities to volunteer in exchange for subsidized conference attendance.)

•         Scholarship funds will be distributed to ensure that a wide spectrum of the Northeast Ohio dance community is represented at the Conference.

Scholarship Award

•         Scholarship payment is made directly to the Conference on the awardee’s behalf, not to the awardee. 

•         Scholarship awardees will be given a discount code with which to use during Conference registration process for the Conference.

For individual artists, dance professionals, and dance administrators living in and/or working for organizations in the Knight Resident Cities of:

Charlotte, NC

Detroit, MI

Macon, GA

Miami, FL

Philadelphia, PA

St. Paul, MN
San Jose, CA

Full conference scholarships and travel/housing subsidies are being provided through a competitive application process.

Organizations may apply, but will be asked to name a single person to attend on their behalf.

Deadline to apply is April 15, 2019 at 11pm EST.

 

Deadline, Selection, and Notification

•         A national advisory committee will review completed applications.

•         Scholarship awardees will be expected to attend and participate in the entire conference from the evening of June 12, 2019 through mid-day June 15, 2019.

•         Notifications will be made by May 1, 2019.

•         Unsuccessful applicants will be allowed to register at the Early Bird Registration Rate even if the deadline has passed.

•         Scholarship funds will be distributed to ensure that a wide spectrum of Knight City dance communities is represented at the Conference.

 

Scholarship Award

•         Scholarship payment is made directly to the Conference on the awardee’s behalf, not to the awardee. 

•         Scholarship awardees will be given a discount code with which to use during Conference registration process for the Conference.

•         Hotel reservations will be made and paid directly to the property on behalf of the awardees.

•         Round-trip airfare will be reimbursed to the artist upon provision of receipt and arrival in Cleveland.
