About the Event

Join NCCAkron this spring for Inside the Dancer’s Studio, a live conversation series with choreographers from around the country.

These free lunchtime talks explore creativity, the craft of choreography, and navigating an artistic career. All talks will take place on Fridays at 12:30 PM ET, in Studio 194 of Guzzetta Hall on The University of Akron Campus. On Friday, Febuary 25th come hear from Courtney Lopes (New York, NY).

Courtney is originally from Bermuda, attended The University of North Carolina School of the Arts for her high school education focusing on Contemporary Dance, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase in 2012. Courtney had the opportunity to study abroad in Taiwan at the Taipei National University of the Arts. Courtney has performed works by choreographers such as, Lar Lubovitch, Paul Taylor, Jessica Lang, and Huang Yi of Cloud Gate Dance Company. Courtney is delighted to currently be working with The Mark Morris Dance Group, Dance Heginbotham, Megan Williams Dance Projects, and MeenMoves. Courtney teaches for The Limon Institute, and The Harkness Dance Center at 92nd St Y.  www.courtneylopes.com

NCCAkron requires that all visitors adhere to the below agreements:

  1. NCCAkron requires audience members to provide COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result, in addition to valid photo identification, upon entry to the event.  Proof of a negative test result received from a COVID-19 rapid test must be within 24 hours prior to entering the event; a negative test result received from a completed PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entering.   2. Everyone—regardless of vaccination status—is required to wear a mask/face covering in indoor public areas at The University of Akron.
  3. Do not visit NCCAkron if you have a fever or do not feel well, have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past 10 days, or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days.
