About the Event

HIJACK is the Minneapolis-based choreographic collaboration of Kristin Van Loon and Arwen Wilder. At NCCAkron, HIJACK is using focused rehearsal time to prepare for the November premiere of their new work, SWAY, in which they're joined by dancer Jules G. Bither and 30 animated artificial plant sculptures created by artist Rachel Youn.

Join us on Thursday, August 18 for a FREE work-in-progress showing of SWAY at Guzzetta Hall's Daum Theatre!

Please prepare to mask up and show proof of vaccination or negative COVID test (rapid test within the prior 24 hours; PCR test within the prior 72 hours) to enter this event.

From HIJACK: "SWAY. Hijack is in the flowers. More specifically, Hijack is in the earnest cynical ironic ecofeminist queer late-stage-capitalism hopeful post-apocalyptic simulacra of a dance party sex party hoarder-house graveyard pandemic garden. Hijack speaks the language of flowers. These flowers are plastic robots. These flowers want to touch you. Hijack dances for the plastic flowers. Hijack sways and flowers. Hijack camouflages. Hijack changes their minds. Hijack is 29 now. Hijack offers the private, the practiced, the made-on-the-spot. Rachel plugged-in the flowers, such a sad euphoria. Jules unplugs the flowers and dances in the disco lights. Everyone sway. Everyone pause. The sun will set."
