ESSAYS

NCCAkron operates as a research and development hub for dance.  Like choreographers in the studio, we administratively and curatorially test out ideas, take risks, and challenge conventional thinking.

To mark the organization’s 10th anniversary, Executive/Artistic Director Christy Bolingbroke shares a series of six essays between now and June 2027, reflecting on a decade of experimentation and learning. 

​

These essays are intended as a collection of writings tracing organizational evolution, highlighting pivotal moments, hard lessons, and leadership decisions that shaped us as well as ground the vision carrying our mission forward.

We publish to practice transparency, to hold ourselves accountable, and to contribute insights to the field-at-large.  Acting as a hyperagent for dance, when we solve for opportunities that benefit more than just one organization, the whole ecosystem can thrive.
