In April 2024, Lead Artist Adele Myers (Miami, FL) and Tara Lee Burns (Columbus, OH) convened a cohort of artist duos including Ilya Vidrin (Boston, MA) and Jessi Stegall (Chicago, IL); Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener (Margaretville, NY); and Daiane Lopes da Silva and Weidong Yang of Kinetech Arts (San Francisco, CA)to explore emerging technology and the impact of that work on creating dance.

 

With the advent of handheld video cameras in the late 20th century, and now digital cameras and smartphones, recording rehearsals has become a normalized practice. This dancing lab will challenge artists to ask a key question as the field continues moving forward: What new technology can become inextricably linked to the creative process?
