Join NCCAkron and choreographer Helanius J. Wilkins for a Choreographic Ritual – a free, site-based performance offering inspired by the Akron, OH community.
This is the culminating event for a series of community-engagement activities connected to The Conversations Series: Stitching the Geopolitical Quilt to Re-Body Belonging, an ongoing and always shifting dance and social change work, confronting and celebrating heritage, resiliency, justice, and hope.

NCCAkron Announces the Fifth Year of 21 Century Dance Practices
NCCAkron and The University of Akron School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration (DTAA) are proud to announce the fifth year of 21st Century Dance Practices, a capsule series of classes guest taught by today’s working dance artists.
The six choreographers include Ruby Morales (Phoenix, AZ), Takahiro Yamamoto (Portland, OR / Boston, MA), Christopher "Unpezverde" Núñez (New York, NY), Hélène Simoneau (Montreal, Québec / New York, NY), Angelina Ramirez (Tucson, AZ), and J’Sun Howard (Chicago, IL).
Each of these artists will also be interviewed for season five of Inside the Dancer’s Studio, which will be released later this year.
NCCAkron Announces the Next Creative Administration Research Cohort
NCCAkron announces the fifth cohort of the Creative Administration Research (CAR) program.
The artists of this new cohort are Marina Magalhães (Santa Cruz, CA), Kara Jenelle Wade (Atlanta, GA), and taylor knight & anna thompson of slowdanger (Pittsburgh, PA).
The CAR program supports U.S. dance artists and challenges the field to think beyond the boundaries of known, traditional models and “best practices.” For the past three years, NCCAkron has built a think tank of Artists and Thought Partners across 16 states to do this work. With the continued support from the Mellon Foundation, NCCAkron welcomes these three new teams to the program this year.
